This morning I'm working on a pretty terrible assignment for my illustration classes. I have to try to make something like an exact copy of this picture. Please zoom in to see how incredibly detailed it is :'). So here is my attempt:

Another Monday

It's Monday evening and another school week has just started. I'm a bit tired, but I just wanted to share my latest purchase with you, an ordinary but perfect ikea-light:

(apologize for the bad quality of the pictures, my photocamera-card-thing decided to stop working, so I had to make them with the webcam.)

I guess the best part of today was dining with friends at the ikea, but still I enjoy this light so much (:
Oh, and I'd like to quote Epicurus here: 'We should look for someone to eat and drink with before looking for something to eat and drink.'

Holiday

Last few days have been full of picknicks, swimming, reading and customizing. I've also bought a new book (Drawing lab) that's full of little drawing exercises. I don't know whether it will be very useful or not, but it's fun to do (:
One of the exercises is to draw 100 faces, so me and Sophie (right one on the photo :P) started The Faces Project (: As soon as I've drawn some, I'll upload them here!

Here are some more 10-minutes sketches I made last week. We picked a word, always a sort of characteristic, and drew what that person would look like.

Birds & Elephants

This week I invited some friends for an 'art project'. We would make something big together, like a short movie, a magazine, etc. On the first day we worked pretty serious on a collage-idea we had. I've got some pictures of that too, but they're on a camera that's on the other side of the country right now so I'll post these later (: Wich means...probably within a month?

Anyway, the next day we started making 10-minutes drawings in our dummies and well, we just didn't stop doing that so the art-project-idea failed miserably :P But we did make a lot of sketches! :D

Here is my birds-and-elephants series, and I'll post some more sketches in the coming days.

About painting II

After that first lesson, we've had about 6 lessons in which we painted each other in about 20-30 minutes. These are some results, and I think I've really made some progress with painting this year (:

About painting

I'm done with school for this year now, so I thought, let's write something about the painting lessons I've had this semester. It's not like I attended to a painting class (it wasn't really my favourite thing to do); the subject was actually called 'free assignment' and in class we did some painting lessons once in a while.

The painting adventure started with the assignment: for next week, make 10 paintings of 20 minutes each, based on your interests, or on previous work you made.
I can promise you it was a hell lot of work.

I made many paintings that sucked.

But some of them turned out pretty okay. (I have to mention that this is the best painting of the series, if you forget about the hands :P)

Last evening I was working on a calender-assignment. At first I didn't wanted to, and I've got now idea whether the things I made are okay, but in the dimmed light, with dEus playing on the background and a jar of chocopeanuts, my workspace was unexpectedly perfect:

Kitchen

One of our teachers gave us an assignment at the start of this semester; make five max-10-minutes-drawings of people every week. Though I'm at 54, we should by now have about 70 drawings. This week's assignment was to pick one of those sketches and colour it in photoshop or illustrator.

Since I'm incompatible with illustrator, I chose photoshop.
